This is a very rare plate from Iceland. It is a plate for agricultural vehicles. The code L stands for the district of "Rangavallasysla" with its capital Hella located in the southwest of the island.

This series was issued from 1937 to 1988. The enamel plates as the one shown above have not been issued a long time before 1988. They have been superseeded by plate of the same format made of flat aluminum with self adhesive letters and numbers. But these plates have not been standing the weather conditions in Iceland for too long.
