The two plates shown above are from Ascension Island in the South Atlantik. The island is part of the Crown Colony of St. Helena, which is some 750 miles southeast. The plates are from a privat car. All
those plates carry the identification letter A and up to three numerals.
The island has only 1,100 inhabitants and in the last available police statistic (September 30, 1998) there are only 1.095 private cars and 34 motorcycles registered.
